The "Picnic"

A bit of clarification.  I tend to refer to Saturday afternoon's meal as a "picnic" but it may not be in the traditional sense, an outdoor blankets-on-the-ground type of meal.  Betsy and Geoff have reminded me the weather may be beautiful or cold and/or rainy and we're making sure we have a Plan B, which will be to go indoors.  Betsy said everyone can fit in their house, but there's not room around the table for 20 people. (Does anyone have a room that big?  Not us!)  If we go indoors, people will be scattered in different rooms, and we think that's great, as we can move around and mingle without being stuck in one chair for the duration of the meal.  I would rather do that than go to a restaurant -- wouldn't you?  It will be our time to catch up and visit with our closest Green family.  When is the last time we were able to do that?  I am so looking forward to it.

Betsy and Geoff also made suggestions about where to get great sandwiches and sides.  I like their ideas, especially because they are locally owned establishments.  Does anyone have food allergies?  I am aware of Uncle Jack's inability to eat spicy food.  Any other issues?

The time is getting close, and even though I am not updating the blog on a daily basis, please keep checking.  This is the easiest way to share information with everyone.  Thanks, and see you soon!

  1. Hi everyone. Cousin Dan here. Just wanted to let you know that I have a peanut allergy. Also, Annie & I are definitely coming and will be staying at the Microtel Friday & Saturday evening.

Please let us know how we can chip in-- financially, physically, comically, or any combination of the three. My personal preference would be to perform physical comedy and be financially compensated for it. . .

  2. Cindy,

I will call Microtel and secure Dad's room with my credit card. Thanks for reserving a room for him! I will be flying to WA DC on March 28th to do business at our office in Old Town Alexandria until Deni, Dan, Annie and Alex arrive at BWI. I will rent a larger sized car for all of us and will be likely arriving after 6PM. We will all be leaving before noon on Sunday to get everyone back to make their 6PM flights.

Thank you for taking car of everything and will be happy to chip in $$ to help with the festivities and do some of the shopping. If you or someone can do a "to do" list and delegate some of the duties, I will be very happy to do JKG's family side of the effort and more!

    Sandy
